It’s photo annual contest time and maybe I should actually look at the work from the last year to see if there is anything worthwhile? Also it might be good to actually mention pervious awards? I guess maybe you’re supposed to say something when they happen, and if you don’t why enter? I guess it’s nice to have at least one other person think what you did is decent, and not your aunt, mother, brother, husband, a real live trained professional. You are officially validated as being pretty good. All the hours, days, years of hard work mean even more than just a paycheck and your professional peers are honoring that, and well, that’s pretty cool.
Now that you’ve had a few minutes to bask in all the glory, there is the realization that you have already done that picture and now it’s time to move on, your 15 seconds are up. Besides there are at least a billion people with cameras out there right now taking (and even a few making) images, makes it hard to keep up. Anyway the external validation is nice, but I have yet to be convinced it means anything moving forward. So, get back to work.
